Jannah is a photographic series captured in South Jakarta in November 2023, focusing on building sites suspended in various states of progress and decay. Some of these sites are temporarily abandoned, others continue in uncertain rhythms. In several cases, halted constructions have become makeshift shelters—inhabited by workers, their families, and people seeking refuge. While many of these structures may eventually be completed, others remain frozen, embodying past ambitions that once reached skyward. These half-formed spaces reflect a fragile intersection between aspiration and abandonment, permanence and impermanence. The title refers to the Islamic concept of Paradise—an eternal, abundant garden promised to the faithful.
