In 2004 the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake created a tsunami that severely damaged Banda Aceh, on the northern tip of the Indonesian island Sumatra. The duty electric generator ship PLTD Apung 1 was hurled several kilometres inland where it is now resting, in the middle of a settlement.
